Capernaum

 

 

The grand 4th C A.D. synagogue was excavated. It stood over the Synagogue from the time of Jesus, which was located under its floor.

 

  The ruins of the earlier synagogue, where Jesus preached, is seen in this photo.

Mk 1: 21-22: "...and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes".

 

 Mt 4:17: "From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand". 

 

 Lk 4: 31-32: "taught them on the sabbath days. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power".
