Kursi

After after sailing across the Sea of Galilee, Jesus and his disciples land in the country of Gadarenes (Gergesenes, on the east side of the lake), where he performs another miracle.

The photo shows the hills above Kursi, where excavations restored the ruins of a 5-6th Century A.D. church and monastery, the largest Byzantine monastery in Israel, which was established on basis of the traditional site of the landing place and the miracle.

These hills are the western foothills of the Golan Heights, which overlook the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee. This view is seen from the shores of the lake where Jesus has landed after sailing across from Capernaum.
